Consumer Tan bought the coreless white lotus seed, which indicated the executive standard number NY/T 1504 on the package.The cadmium amount in the food sent for inspection by the Tan was 0.062 mg/kg, exceeding the requirement of cadmium (≤0.05mg/kg) stated in NY/T1504. Therefore, Tan sued the company that produced food do not meet food safety standard. The company, as the defendant, declared the cadmium amount meets requirement of cadmium in ‘Nuts and Seeds’ according to National Food Safety Standard Maximum Levels of Contamination in Food (GB 2762-2017), which is ≤0.5mg/kg.


The court decided that the company should refund the payment and paid ten times compensation to Tan.
